Portland Rev3 Half..a taste

I'm still trying to find time to finish the whole detailed race report but I figure I'm sure my fans er fan is interested in seeing a quick summary so here it is.

This is the first triathlon in 2 seasons that I didn't get rained on. The weather was great.  For those not wanting to suffer through a long winded report.  Here's the meaty details.  Nice uncrowded swim.  Push as hard as I could go the whole way to rock a 31:15 swim time.  There was about a half mile run from swim exit to transition so we had bags with shoes.  I had trouble getting my wetsuit off but once I got my shoes, I hammered to transition and passed about 5-10 people.  I did a flying mount on the bike without incident and proceeded to get going.  Pushed too hard at the beginning of the bike legal drafting way faster folks.  Suffered through the middle and end of the bike.  Hit T2 thanking God that I was off the bike and could unleash my event, the run.  I got my socks and shoes on and headed out.  Futzed around with my fuel belt and number for a bit.  Thought I was going a little slow so pushed into a nice pace.  Started to get a side ache at mile 2 and decided to take less liquid nutrition to see if I could manage it.  It hit full time at mile 7 and I slowed big time.  It finally went away at mile 8.5 or so but then the legs said hey you don't have enough miles in me and started to hurt.  Probably a little lack of nutrition combined as well.  Finished in a new 70.3 PR for a flat fast course.  This course was even faster than Florida.  I hit my goal swim time on the money, missed my goal bike split by 3 minutes and only missed my goal run split by 1 minute.

  1. I sit impressed by your achievement.

My half ironman goes something like this:

Watched half season of Burn Notice, skipping the commercials in 4 minutes over scheduled time (some issues with fast forwarding too far past the commercials).

Ate bowl of popcorn on schedule

    Drank soda in record time

for net finish of 2 minutes ahead of my schedule.

Somehow, it does not sound impressive next to yours...
